13.45 to 14.20: “Screening for new biomarkers in patients with CAD” – Professor Lars Wallentin (Uppsala University)
Lars Wallentin, MD, PhD. is Professor of Cardiology at (and founder of) the Uppsala Clinical Research Center. He obtained his PhD from Linköping University in Sweden and has gone on to become one of the world’s leading experts on unstable coronary artery disease, and one the most highly cited cardiologists overall. Professor Wallentin has been Chairman and Principal Investigator for many national and international clinical trials for cardiac diseases treatment, and has pioneered the use of molecular biomarkers and new treatment concepts in acute coronary artery diseases. Professor Wallentin has also worked closely with the pharma and biotech industries over many years and is one of the leading proponents for the use of biomarkers for precision medicine. He was the first recipient of the highly merited Nordic Medical Prize, and was elected as a member of the Royal Swedish Academy of Sciences.
