Nectin-4 (PVRL4), also known as Poliovirus receptor-related protein 4, is part of the Nectin family of calcium-independent cellular adhesion proteins.Nectins have adhesive roles in many different tissue types, for example in the adherens junction of epithelia and in neuronal chemical synapses. Nectin-4 appears to be involved in cell adhesion through both trans-homophilic and -heterophilic interactions, specifically with PVRL2/nectin-1 in the latter case. There are some indications that Nectin-4 may be involved in some developing cancers, since the protein has been detected in the serum of lung cancer patients. Mutations in the PVRL4 gene are associated with ectodermal dysplasia-syndactyly syndrome 1, which results from the abnormal development of two or more ectodermal structures.
Recommended sample types are EDTA plasma and serum. A range of additional sample types are compatible with the technology (PEA), including citrate plasma, heparin plasma, cerebrospinal fluid, (CSF), tissue and cell lysates, fine needle biopsis, microdialysis fluid, cell culture media, dried blood spots, synovial fluid, saliva, plaque extract and microvesicles. Please note that protein expression levels are expected to vary in different sample types. Certain assays are differentially affected by interfering substances such as hemolysate. The calibrator curve below shows the performance of the assay with the estimated sensitivity and dynamic range parameters indicated. These curves are generated during the assay validation process using recombinant antigens. Please note that when analyzing biological samples the data generated will be given in the form of relative quantification (NPX values) and cannot be converted to absolute protein concentrations.
