Interleukin-18 (IL-18)

Links to databases

IL-18 is a pro-inflammatory cytokine that in combination with IL-12 induces cell-mediated immunity in the presence of microbial infection, which leads to the release of IFN-gamma. IL-18 can also induce severe inflammatory reactions and it has been described to be involved in several inflammation-related diseases such as Hashimoto?s thyroiditis, Alzheimer?s disease, rheumatoid arthritis, lung injury, etc.
