    Inflammation is a biological process of central importance for biomedical research and is now believed to be a key underlying factor for the pathophysiology of a wide range of diseases, from “classical” inflammatory conditions (e.g. IBD and dermatological diseases) to cardiovascular disease and cancer. Our Inflammation panel offers simultaneous analysis of 92 protein biomarkers using just 1 µL of biological sample, and all assays are subject to Olink’s strict technical validation and QC control procedures.

    This represents the most extensive panel available on the market for proteins associated with inflammatory diseases and related biological processes, enabling investigation of protein signatures with high efficiency and robustness and accelerates the speed of finding new and relevant human protein biomarkers related to inflammation. The panel is compiled to detect a selection of already established as well as exploratory biomarkers within the inflammation research field. The content of the panel has been designed in close collaboration with experts within various disease areas such as rheumatoid arthritis, Crohn’s disease, ulcerative colitis, neuro inflammation, and respiratory diseases, and it is well suited to discerning protein profiles in clinically relevant samples.

    New April 2019: After listening to feedback from our customers, we have made important improvements to two of  the key assays in the inflammation panel

    • Tumor Necrosis Factor (TNF) Uniprot number P01375.  The previous assay for this analyte, (also known as TNFα) was specific for the biologically active trimeric version of the protein only, and exhibited relatively low detectabilty in many samples. Since the majority of commercially available assays also detect TNF monomers and our customers have expressed a strong wish to be able to measure all forms of the protein that may be present in serum/plasma, we have developed a new assay that does just this. In our validation experiments, the new assay exhibits significantly higher detectability in samples from both patients and healthy controls
    • Interferon Gamma (IFN-gamma) Uniprot number P01579. Based on customer feedback that a higher level of  detectability would be appreciated for this important inflammatory marker, we have worked hard to optimize and improve this assay to ensure a significantly higher level of detectability (in samples from both patients and healthy controls)

    The detectabilty and dynamic ranges of both these assays have been improved without any compromise on specificity or any other performance characteristics

    For optimal assay performance, each immunoassay in the panel has been assessed in terms of specificity, precision, sensitivity, dynamic range, matrix effects and interference in biological material.

    The biomarker pages linked to below include calibrator curves that show the performance of each assay with the estimated sensitivity and dynamic range parameters indicated. These curves are generated during the assay validation process using recombinant antigens, with data presented as Normalized Protein eXpression (NPX) values plotted against protein concentration (in pg/mL). Please note that when analyzing biological samples the data generated will be given in the form of relative quantification (NPX values) and cannot be converted to absolute protein concentrations.
